New partnership with Shell Australia

Teach For Australia is delighted to be partnering with Shell Australia over the next three years.

Teach For Australia is delighted to be partnering with Shell Australia over the next three years to support the recruitment, training and development of more Teach For Australia Associates to teach vulnerable young people in low socioeconomic Western Australian schools.

Research indicates that the most powerful policy lever to improve the educational outcomes of students is to improve the quality of teaching. The 2014 to 2016 Teach For Australia and Shell Australia partnership will help vulnerable youths unlock their future career potential with a particular focus on maths and science.

“The portfolio recognises that as a society our greatest assets are our communities and our families,” said Andrew Smith, Country Chair, Shell Australia.

The partnership, which was announced today in Canberra with the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, Minister for Education, is part of a Shell Australia national social investment portfolio, which will impact over 100,000 young Australians, 300 teachers and 700 indigenous people.

“Teach For Australia’s vision is of an Australia, where all children, regardless of background attain an excellent education.

“We are privileged to receive this support from Shell Australia and look forward to working with them towards the realisation of our vision,” said Melodie Potts Rosevear, Chief Executive Officer, Teach For Australia.

Teach For Australia works towards its vision by recruiting highly competent individuals from diverse academic backgrounds and training and developing them to become exceptional teachers and inspirational leaders that meet the needs of schools in low socioeconomic communities and the broader education system.

Established in 2008, Teach For Australia operates in Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and, as of 2015 and thanks to the support from Shell Australia, Western Australia.
