Who we are
Teach For Australia is an independent not-for-profit organisation supported by both public and private sector partners. We are committed to and working hard towards our vision of an Australia where all children have excellent educational opportunities.
A partner to Teach First in the UK and Teach For America in the US, the program, Teach For Australia originated as a joint policy idea of the Cape York Institute and Macquarie University, and quickly expanded to include government and corporate supporters. View a list of our supporters.
Our primary objective is to improve student outcomes in areas of socio-economic disadvantage by attracting and supporting graduates to teach in disadvantaged schools for two years. We also foster the building of a network of alumni who are interested in and knowledgeable about schools and education, committed to educational equity and destined to become exceptional leaders.
