Wesfarmers: our newest Transformational Partner

Wesfarmers has partnered with Teach For Australia to inspire the next generation of Western Australians.

We are excited to announce that Wesfarmers, one of Australia’s largest private sector employers, has partnered with Teach For Australia to help transform education in Western Australia.

Headquartered in Perth, Wesfarmers is dedicated to engaging with and making a positive contribution to the communities in which it works.

In just three years since launching our Leadership Development Program in Western Australia, we have placed 80 Associates across 22 schools in Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Wesfarmers will enable us to deepen and expand our work across Western Australian communities even further, helping to positively improve student and school outcomes across the state.

“Our partnership with Wesfarmers will be immensely valuable to our mission in Western Australia,” says Melodie Potts Rosevear, Founder and CEO of Teach For Australia.

This support will directly contribute the training and development of incoming Associates, like Cohort 2014 Alumna Melanie McLeod and Cohort 2016 Associate Sasha Lytas, who have worked together to establish a Politics and Law Program for the very first time at Southern River College, in Gosnells.

“Every day, Associates inspire the next generation in the classroom and beyond – and Wesfarmers is committed to supporting these passionate individuals, each of whom has a direct impact on their communities.”

For more than 100 years, Wesfarmers has been actively involved in the community. With its first origins as a farmers’ cooperative in 1915, Wesfarmers has long held the belief that to have a healthy business, you must have strong, vibrant communities in which to live and work.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Wesfarmers to the growing Teach For Australia family,” says Melodie.

Since Teach For Australia was founded in 2009, we have placed 549 Associates across schools serving low socioeconomic communities in the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.
