About the network

The Immediate Impact Network is a group of well-rounded and passionate individuals who have the desire to use their careers to create change, wherever they are.

While you need at least a Bachelor’s Degree to apply for the Leadership Development Program, the Immediate Impact Network is a group of first, second and third year university students, as well as curious career changers who are interested in orienting their career towards social change and equity, including educational equity.

Current Opportunities

School Taster Experience

Teach For Australia is pleased to announce our three-day School Taster Experience. During these three days (28-30 November), you’ll get an understanding of what it’s like to lead a classroom by working with teachers to share your skills and inspire students. We have no doubt that they’ll inspire you too.

What’s more, you could finish this three-day experience with a pathway to join our Leadership Development Program in 2021.

You’ll be prepared for the challenge by attending interactive, skills-based workshops and you’ll have the support of your fellow participants, Teach For Australia program Alumni as well as the Recruitment Team. You’ll also travel to one of our partner schools in regional Victoria and experience what it’s like to live and work in one of our most exciting (and naturally beautiful) community environments.

What to expect

Day 1

The experience starts with a day of training and personal development. You will attend leadership workshops with our team. Through these workshops, as you prepare to work with students, you will develop skills in:

  • Relationship-building;
  • Motivating others; and
  • Teamwork.

Day 2

You will spend day two in classrooms, meeting teachers (many of whom are Alumni of the Leadership Development Program), observing lessons and working with students to improve their aspirations and academic achievement.  You’ll start to make a real impact on the young people you meet.

Day 3

On the third morning, you will spend some time in the community, experiencing some of the local sights and getting a sense of the community: its strengths, as well as the issues it faces. And, before you return home, we’ll come back together to reflect on your experience and find out how you can get a head start towards your application for the Leadership Development Program.

All transport, food and accommodation costs will be covered.

We’re looking for people who are driven to make a change in the lives of others, who want to develop valuable leadership skills and who love working with young people as much as we do.

The Program is open to penultimate-year university students in Victoria and ACT who have an interest in English, Maths or Science.

Applications for the School Taster Experience are now closed.

Ongoing Opportunities

Teach For Australia has a range of opportunities to be a part of our vision, learn more about high-impact career opportunities and access a network of like-minded people to accelerate your personal and professional growth.

If you want to prepare for that kind of impact, join our community and:

  • Develop an understanding of the problems that our education system and society face and how developments in education research promise to overcome them;
  • Learn how others have managed their careers and leveraged diverse experiences to create success for themselves and others;
  • Participate in training programs to develop key employability skills including communication, emotional intelligence, problem-solving and leadership;
  • Develop networks with others who have the same goals and aspirations as you; and
  • Access volunteer and employment opportunities to help you start making an impact and improve your job prospects right now.

Immediate Impact Network will help you gain an understanding about our Leadership Development Program, and where it could take you.

The Leadership Development Program offers what few others roles do: genuine responsibility, autonomy and impact from day one. Our vision to achieve educational equity begins inside the classroom, but Teach For Australia Associates don’t start out as teachers – in fact, they come from all academic and professional backgrounds. And they don’t all end up as teachers. We know that the experience and skills Teach For Australia Associates gain accelerate the impact they have in education, government, business and social enterprise!
