AI Acceptable Usage Policy - Selection Process

1) Purpose & Scope

We value honesty, originality, and fairness in our selection processes. This policy sets expectations for the ethical use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Grammarly, translation tools) in all application materials and selection activities for candidates (including but not limited to; written responses, short answers, online forms, email submissions, task outputs during assessment, interviews, etc).

2) Permitted Uses

You may use AI tools to:

  • Brainstorm topics or questions before writing.
  • Organise your thoughts (outlines as prompts for yourself, not AI-written text).
  • Check grammar, spelling, and minor style clarity.
  • Research the process (e.g., deadlines, what to include).

3) Prohibited Uses (authorship, originality, and voice)

You must not:

  • Use AI to draft or write your responses (full paragraphs, essays, or activity descriptions).
  • Copy and paste AI-generated text and present it as your own.
  • Use AI during live or timed selection tasks (unless an approved accessibility accommodation is in place).

Why?

Your application to the program should reflect your own voice and ideas. Using AI beyond these guidelines may be considered misrepresentation and could affect your application outcome.

4) Accessibility

If you require AI tools as part of an approved accessibility accommodation, please let us know at apply@teachforaustralia.org.au.
