Teach For Australia acknowledges and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia. Theirs is the oldest living and continuous culture on earth. Their deep relationship with and enduring care of Country is a gift to our nation. This was and will always be their land. Teach For Australia pays respect to the Elders past, present and emerging, their custodianship, their courage and their resilience.
Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in joining Teach For Australia’s Future Leaders Program (FLP). FLP is designed to support educators working in regional and remote schools to develop their leadership skills and capabilities.

The program aims to develop the next generation of school leaders in these communities, improving access to high-quality teaching and learning for all students.

Throughout the selection process, we want to get to know you. The application process consists of two parts. The first collects your details and your experiences and the second part focuses on some short essay questions. Please remember this is not a competitive process - it is an opportunity to define your current strengths and areas of growth so you can progress towards your leadership goals.

We have limited places for the 2023 Cohort so we recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible for your best chance of securing a place in the program.

We encourage you to get in touch if you would like to discuss the application process or your individual circumstances. Please reach out to the team at info@futureleadersprogram.org.au.

We wish you all the best with your application.

Eligibility Criteria

Our program is funded by the Federal Government. They are invested in the long term development of the regional, rural and remote education system. Therefore only residents and citizens who can reside permanently in Australia will be eligible to participate.

Our program is targeting aspiring leaders who have gained some experience leading in the classroom. Therefore, by the end of the 2022 academic year, you must have completed at least two years of teaching.

If this is something you are unclear on, please email info@futureleadersprogram.org.au to discuss your circumstances in more detail.

ICSEA data for all Australian schools is available on the My Schools website (myschool.edu.au). If you believe your school should be considered as facing systemic disadvantage, but has an ICSEA of 1000 or greater, please email us at info@futureleadersprogram.org.au.

For your application to be progressed, your Principal will be asked to endorse your application to show their support and consent.

FLP conducts nine intensive workshop days that take place over the course of the 2023 academic year. To reduce participants' time taken out of school, these workshop days will take place during the April, July and September school holidays, and may involve additional day(s) travel depending on where you're located. To successfully complete the program you are required to attend at least eight of these days. Please view the 2023 proposed workshop dates below to ensure you can commit to these.

First intensive (x 3 days - In-Person): Wednesday, April 12 - Friday, April 14, 2023

Mid-year intensive (x 3 days - Virtual): Tuesday, July 4 - Thursday, July 6, 2023

Final intensive: (x 3 days - In-Person): Wednesday, September 27 - Friday, September 29, 2023

If you are unsure about your capacity to attend these workshop days please reach out to us at info@futureleadersprogram.org.au to discuss this further with a member of our team.
