Teach For Australia’s founder and CEO Melodie Potts Rosevear was recently awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to education, particularly to teacher development.

From Larry Kaminer:

“By now many in the Teach For Australia community will have seen the news that our very own CEO, Melodie Potts Rosevear, has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to education.

I know Melodie is incredibly humbled by this surprise accolade, and also that she regards it very much as recognition for the collective efforts of every single person who has worked with and supported Teach For Australia over the past 12 years.

It is a well-deserved honour, for Melodie and for Teach For Australia. Mel may be humble – it is but one of the qualities which make her an effective leader – but I would like to take this opportunity to put on record how proud I am of her and the organisation.

With her vision and unwavering belief that more can and must be done to deliver better outcomes for students facing educational disadvantage, Melodie continues to be a catalyst for reform.

Thank you to each and every person who supports Teach For Australia as we work towards the vision of an Australia where education gives every child greater choice for their future.”

From Melodie:

“I am so acutely conscious that Teach For Australia’s impact is the result of collective endeavors of so many: you, our dedicated and hard-working staff; our Associates and Alumni who take up the mission; and our many supporters, be they partner schools, fellow teachers, education sector stakeholders, and our generous funders.

“This is very much an honour for the entire Teach For Australia community, not me alone. I know that it is our work together, our persistence together, that will create a fairer, better education system for children and young people across Australia.”
