Teach For Australia’s 2023 Giving Day has raised $131,588 to help us keep bringing more passionate teachers and leaders to students across Australia.
More than 90 donors made contributions ranging from $5 to $10,000 during the annual fundraising sprint, with every dollar given matched by our generous event partner Rokt.
TFA Acting CEO, Jane Phipps, thanked our supportive community and philanthropic partners for their generosity – and their commitment to educational equity for all young people.
“We are constantly blown away by the generosity of our network and this Giving Day was no exception,” she said.
“Every dollar donated will go directly to our work to find, train and support new teachers to reach thousands of students in communities facing disadvantage.”
Teach For Australia’s Leadership Development Program recruits and develops high-calibre graduates and career professionals to become teachers in low-socioeconomic communities, including remote and rural Australia.
During a time of workforce shortages, our program is helping to attract subject specialists into hard-to-fill roles – talented people who might not have otherwise considered teaching.
“Thanks to this funding support, we can bring even more exceptional talent to teach young people in classrooms across Australia to inspire, spark curiosity, and instil a love for learning,” Jane said.
“Achieving educational equity across Australia is an ambitious vision – but together, we can make it happen. Because every young person deserves an education that gives them opportunities and choice in life.”
