Teach For Australia is honoured to be chosen as one of two recipients of Parliament House’s esteemed Giving Tree Program, running over November and December this year.
The national education charity has been selected alongside Murrup, an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, that partners with remote communities to design and deliver programs supporting children, young people, and their families.
The Giving Tree Program commences with a launch event on Wednesday 20 November at Parliament House on Ngunnawal Ngambri Country (Canberra), hosted by President of the Senate, Senator the Hon Sue Lines, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon Milton Dick MP.
Founder and CEO, Melodie Potts Rosevear said the additional support would allow the organisation to further drive its mission and vision forward: ensuring every child has an education that gives them greater choice for their future.
“The best gift any child can receive is the gift of a good education. And for a child facing disadvantaged circumstances, that gift keeps on giving and can be truly life changing,” said Ms Potts Rosevear.
“It was for me. It was for Taylor and Angus from Cobram Secondary College and for countless other students in areas experiencing disadvantage and those in rural, regional and, remote schools, that Teach For Australia’s participants teach and lead daily. We make your gift count, and keep counting over a child’s lifetime.”
